Borderlands GOTY Enhanced Stream

The Opening

The story begins with a jovial fat man named Marcus Kincaid, regaling children with an amazing story of a far off treasure called the Vault. The vault is mysterious prize, promising wealth, fame and women (Men for siren?).

Throughout the main story, you are given advice and directives from a “Guardian Angel” who promises the Vault is real, that you NEED to be the first one there, and that what you are doing could save the world. She also feels sympathy for the local “CL4P-TP”, or clap traps, and will ask you to help them if they are injured.

Marcus drops you off at Firestone, a dinky town besieged by bandits that has been abandoned. You fight your way to the center of the shacks and find Doctor Zed (Mid examination of a corpse). Zed thanks you for your help, and informs you that “Nine-Toes” has been behind the banditry that has destroyed the population of Firestone. Zed asks for your assistance, and directs you to visit a friend of his, T.K. Baha.

T.K. seems to have been left behind because he is missing a leg and is blind, but remains generally happy. He does ask for help getting his artificial leg back from a scag (Local dog/alien wildlife), and directs you to where 9-Toes has been hiding.

After defeating 9-Toes (Who happens to have 3 balls, oh my), you get contacted by a man named “Scooter”, named after his sister. He asks for your help to repair his “Catch a Ride” service, which provides unlimited vehicles to help get around. When Dr. Zed realizes you have access to the vehicles, he suggests you visit Shep Sanders.

Progress to Sledge

Shep seems to make his living by not being noticeable, like an informant. He tells you about the Key needed get access to kill “Sledge”, the local ruler of the bandits and boss to the late Nine-Toes. After fighting many people (And a giant midget) you gain this key and fight your way to Sledge, a Giant with a shot gun with 0% accuracy, 500% fire rate, massive damage, and massive kickback.

Leaving the Badlands

After kicking his huge ass, you find a piece of the Vault Key in his possession. Almost as soon as you collect it, you are contacted by Commandant Steele (A possible Siren) who is the leader of the “Crimson Lance”, the local… authorities? Big armored baddies, for sure. She explains that she works for the Atlas Corporation and that anything alien found on this planet (including that key fragment) is their property. She advises you to hand it over soon.

You also get contacted by Marcus again, who offers you partnership… after all, once you get the vault SOMEONE will have to help you sell it… Right?

You head back and talk to Dr. Zed, who is amazed at your progress and promises to ask “Helena Pierce” (Big Honcho lady in the city of New Haven) to upgrade your clearances so you can get past more checkpoints. He points you toward Ernest Whitting in the Dahl Headlands as someone in the know.

When you meet Ernest, he is grateful for you showing up: Lucky Zaford has been taken hostage at his facility, “Lucky’s Last Chance Watering Hole”. After freeing him, Lucky guides you to reactivating the “Fast Travel Network” and sends you to defeat the nasty “Mad Mel”, a local bandit who uses large reinforced vehicles for combat. Now that your way is unblocked, you headed forth to New Haven!

New Haven

Ah New Haven. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. The leader of this small town is (as mentioned before) “Helena Pierce”. Half her face was disfigured, but the other half killed the person responsible. She is willing to help, but only if you pull your own weight first. After restoring power to the town she informs you of the leading expert in Vault Research, Patricia Tannis.

Tannis examines your fragment of vault key and sends you to meet with “Crazy” Earl (WHATCHU WANT!?) and get his fragment. Earl tells you that it was taken by Krom (Formally known as Leslie, second in command to Baron Flynt).
